PROPOSED MISSION STATEMENT,
GOALS and OBJECTIVES FOR STRATEGIC PLANNING


MISSION STATEMENT: To promote effective state regulation and improve private education, the National Association of State Administrators and Supervisors of Private Schools (“NASASPS”), will act as the national voice for states, provide policy leadership, promote best practices, deliver professional development, create strategic partnerships and advocate for quality private postsecondary options for students.

 
 
GOAL 1

NASASPS will develop and promote excellence in the regulation of the private postsecondary education community.

OBJECTIVES:

1.1: Meet with educational community, concerned agencies and organizations at their professional organizational meetings; and to introduce the goals of NASASPS and maintain contact with these agencies by providing periodical updates via email or through other means of communication.
1.2: Create a strategic communications plan that will target specific messages to the associations’ business partners, accreditation agencies, potential students and possible state federal agencies.
1.3 (formerly 3.1): The association will be the “voice” for stakeholders and the state licensing regulatory community as a whole.
1.4 (formerly 3.7): The association will promote NASASPS to regulatory agencies and the value of the same to schools and eventually to students who attend these schools

 

GOAL 2

NASASPS will develop and provide professional development programs for state licensing boards, provinces, territories and districts concerned with private postsecondary education.

OBJECTIVES:

2.1: The association will assist state agencies in developing standards that will achieve a high degree of compliance from licensed schools.
2.2: The association will work with state administrators to develop continuing education programs for school administrators and other interested parties and industry stakeholders.
2.3 (formerly 3.2): The association will organize workshops, conferences and seminars for NASASPS members and other interested parties to update and upgrade their professional growth as it applies to the industry.
2.4 (formerly 4.2):  The association will host the NASASPS annual fall conference at a site approved by the Board to identify projects the association should consider collecting, organizing and disseminating.

GOAL 3

NASASPS will develop and maintain professional relationships with other related agencies, organizations, professional partners and institutions concerned with private postsecondary education programs.

OBJECTIVES

3.1 (formerly 4.1): The association will host strategy-planning sessions with regulators in the industry to develop common tools unique to our industry for the good of the private postsecondary education community.
3.2 (formerly 4.3): The association will host the NASASPS spring conference at a site approved by the board for the purpose of providing a forum to all members, partners and stakeholders to gather and share best practices and other industry related information.
3.3 (formerly 4.4): The association will create a Partner Program with vendors and suppliers to private postsecondary schools to establish committees that will serve at the pleasure of the board to collect, organize and report back to the board their findings.
The association membership will work with the NASASPS Board and all related agencies to develop legal consortiums that would be beneficial to the private postsecondary education industry.

 

GOAL 4

NASASPS will serve as the clearinghouse for collecting, organizing and disseminating information that is of interest to its members and the private postsecondary educational community.

OBJECTIVES:

4.1: The association will initiate studies addressing existing or emerging problem areas in the industry or other regulatory provisions.
4.2: The association will begin to solicit contracts/grants from agencies to collect, organize and disseminate reports in areas of common interest to the private post secondary education community.
4.3: The association will develop databases that are accessible through the internet for interested parties.
4.4: The association will serve as the repository for information that states entrust to NASASPS for the purposes of organizing storing and publishing same.
4.5: The association will serve as a liaison to provide information requested by NASASPS members and other appropriate organization.

 

GOAL 5

NASASPS will establish and promote a model of accepted standards for assessing excellence within the private postsecondary community.

OBJECTIVES

5.1: The association will work with the appropriate boards and state agencies to develop minimum core standards that schools must achieve on an annual basis or as determined by NASASPS to be eligible for recognition.
5.2: The association will develop a form of recognition for those schools and programs, which are affiliated with the industry, and have meet standards of excellence.

 

GOAL 6

NASASPS will create a model policy to govern and regulate distance learning in the private postsecondary education community.

OBJECTIVES

6.1: The association will work with federal/state agencies, accrediting agencies and other stakeholders to create policies and standards that will govern distance learning which will apply equally to each state.
