NASASPS has designed the Certified Higher Education Professional (CHEP) certification to recognize employees of career education institutions who strive for excellence in their respective positions.
Career schools, colleges and universities offer a wide range of postsecondary educational programs, from short-term certificates to doctoral and professional degrees. These career-focused institutions seek to employ and develop knowledgeable faculty, staff and administrators to support and achieve their missions. Whereas the degree and experience requirements for each position varies depending on the scope of the institution and the job responsibilities, specialized employee training enables institutions to develop high performing, compliant, and ethical employees to better serve students. As such, NASASPS recognizes employees who successfully complete an approved training program in their job functional area.
NASASPS awards the CHEP certification in the following specialization areas:
- Higher Education Leadership
- Management and Supervision
- Campus Operations
- Career Services
- Online Teaching
CHEPs must complete forty eight hours of approved training (“Excellence Program”) in their area of specialization and are required to complete eight hours of approved training annually to maintain their certification. Click here for a list of approved training providers.
CHEPs are formally recognized through inclusion on the official NASASPS list of Certified Higher Education Professionals.
